ha! the once and future king...nice.

thanks for the plug, brother. the interview was fun, and only my second one (i remember some 7-10 years ago when i used to fantasize about being interviewed....).

yup, it would be nice to be the future poet....ex-poet sounds too much like i just completed a 12-step program...how about recovering poet. i like that... :)

the atheistic retreat did well.

speaking of atheism. you got to check out The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins; and the new God Is NotGreat by Christopher Hitchens...also anything by Dan Dennett and Sam Harris...both great writers.

Hey, killer interview mister Barrett. A-fucking-men on the shit quality of the majority of small press work, and kudos for placing the blame at the feet of the editor...

Oh, and I love Mark Strand too. He lives in SLC, doesn't he? Or used to? Google doesn't know, but I am pretty sure he did/does. You two should hang.

Oh... and uh, speaking of websites... cough cough cough...

Especially Dennett, for Cunningham, since he makes his own wine.

Kav,
Strand no longer live here...he did for awhile...used to teach at the University of Utah (which is only a stones throw from where i work)...if he did live here i would definitely look him up. he is originally a Canadian, i believe and was the only foreign born Poet Laureate (i could be wrong there)...helluva poet...he first got me started on this path.

d.mm.--yes, Dennett is very good. less high profile than the others, but maybe a better writer (except for Hitchens)...

I've actually not read much Dennett, just an essay here and there, and have seen some of his lectures and debates. I'm more familiar with him because Anna worked for him for a couple years (hence how I know he makes wine at his summer home in Maine).

it's a shame Hitchens went over to the right. he really lost the plot with Iraq (he still supports the invasion), but this new book looks interesting. a priest ordered a copy at the bookstore where I work, last week.

i just picked up my copy....haven't delved into it yet, but can't wait to.

yeah, Hitchens is an odd one to peg down. he's one helluva smart guy, but even the smarties get it wrong sometimes.

i'll let you know what i think of the book when i'm finished!

yep glenn, he went off the deep end on iraq. it is embarassing and irritating watching these people back pedal, justify and obscure the lies and misinformation that they helped disseminate. every goddamn Friedman Unit this shit gets worse while shills like fucking Lieberman and McCain tell us it smells like roses.
