stuff...
just got the new issues of Adrian Manning's dandy Concrete Meat Sheet, a finely printed single sheet broadside from the U.K. featuring some damn fine poets. one of the issues is a single poet issue featuring some of my poesy, including some poems from Flowers In The Shadow Of The Storm. check it out.
also, Kaveh Akbar, future greatest poet in human history, sent me this essay on "poetic ambition;" it's a good read by a certain Poet Laureate and covers the topic of small poems writ as anecdotal journal entries for the purposes of publication as success versus the idea of writing Great Poems For Eternity and striving to become better writers.

Hahaha... glad you liked it man.
It's sort of become a scripture of sorts for me right now.
PS. My favorite part in the essay was the "This is your contrary assignment: Be as good a poet as George Herbert. Take as long as you wish."
i started to read it. but then, within 5 minutes, all i read was blah, blah, blah. got bored and quit.
Pearls before swine... ;)
I started to write a response to car but blah blah....bored....something...snort....zzzzzzzzzzz....;)
oh. i'm TERRIBLY sorry for havin' an opinion. ;)
you pig-dog americans are all alike!
i'll stab donald hall then make 'im watch "big mamma's house"
i liked the essay.
it's -- part and parcel -- the reason why i'm stuck in a morass of existential and philosophical shit.
greatness (and the ambition for it) lacks not just in the poetry world, but in society as a general (see our current president for further proof).

Oops. Here is what I meant to say, before the HTML broked it:
I wholeheartedly agree. The democratization of every facet of our existence has elevated the median into every position of power in our lives... poetry, politics, even love. Fuck that. I'm gonna give that Donald Hall bloke a run for his $$.
Oh, and speaking of American Poet Laureates, I spoke with W.D. Snodgrass on the phone today - and we will be featuring a poem of his in Quirk II. Get your commemorative tattoos now.
Well, I thought it was cool, anyway.
you spoke to snodgrass on the phone? who the hell speaks to people like that on the phone? or anywhere? or ever?
though, of course, i am saying this as i JUST got off a conference call with Madonna, Stephen King, and Mario Andretti.
they all told me to tell all of you that they say HI. they're nice folks.
:)
