there's another part of the Correspondent's Dinner where the Prez is standing with an impersonator and it's quite funny.
great stuff.
the colbert moment is one of the most stinging political moments I've ever witnessed. he is ON FIRE and the preznits discomfort is OBVIOUS and HILARIOUS. the way the crowd cannot make heads or tails of the thing, unsure of how to act in front of Dear Leader, etc., is fantastic.
one of the few opportunities any of "us" will have to speak "truthiness" to power.
and remember:
we're "not sinking..if anything..we're SOARING!"
you're right man...it really was scathing...and the beauty of it was the Swiftian twist he put on it. the absurd, take-it-to-the-ultimate-degree spin he said everything with. such satirical wit.
i love that "we're SOARING bit". there were so many great things. and the prez wasn't the only one who was hit. Scalia and even the press got some of it.
CLASSIC!
