this in the United States?...

what the fuck. I mean, this is still America, right? I promise you one thing: there is no fucking "security guard" alive that would keep me from talking to anyone I goddamn choose. who the fuck do these people think they are? and what kind of cocksucker actually carries out this Geshtapo bullshit? don't they ever consider that someday they themselves might be on the receiving end of some kind of "camp?"

I mean, what the fuck?

no doubt dem...

the problem lies with the apathy of those being oppressed, and those who fail to participate in their own DEMOCRACY.

yes indeedy, what a shitass. I mean, THIS IS AMERICA FUCKER. you're telling me that I've been rendered homeless by a giant storm (while the prez. LITERALLY ate cake and strummed a guitar...I'll link it if I have to...) and am forced to live in a formaldehyde ridden trailer (link if requested) (I'm lazy today) and I can't even tell anyone about my situation MONTHS after the storm?

bullshit.

If truth is our enemey, how has democracy triumphed?

The only way to make truth win out over lies is to put a pricetag on it, make it a commodity, a luxury item, for sale to the highest bidder. So until we find a way to traffic in TRUTH FOR PROFIT, it will have no place in these, The Badlands of the American MoneyJungle.

Of course, they are also trying to make us very dumb (by refusing to educate our children), so that we can't recognize truth when we see it & will believe what we're told...so it almost doesn't matter either way...

first of all, the article says that the restriction applies to people who invite the media. in other words, they can still go to the media and talk.

IMAGINE THE MEDIA BEING FORCED TO FOLLOW CERTAIN GUIDELINES!!! LMAO

only a true lib could think this is a serious rights violation.

you want to talk about rights violations, what about campaign financing limitations. you are the same people that think its ok to limit how much money someone can give to a certain cause...essentially because you dont like the cause.

grow up.

hey you make a good point. maybe I've been all turned around on this "freedom" thing. you'd think that tax dollars, which paid for this trailer I've been forced to live in by the poor use of tax dollars on a federal and local level (maintaining infrastructure, paying the salaries of lyilng politicos, etc.), would have enabled someone to pull themselves up by their bootstraps and get over their moonbat hippie bullshit, huh? they should've just headed out to one of your media outlets and demanded some airtime.

very good point on campaign financing as well, I mean, why shouldn't you be able to give obscene amounts of money to politicians who are then indebted to you, who then pass legislation that allow you to make even more money (and thankfullly allow you to censor the public debate thru control of a limited number of media outlets with the appearance of a vast number) to give to more politicians, etc. ad nauseum...

boy you've made some good points and indeed, I should grow up.

thanks for setting me straight.

one person can not win an election by himself. you could give 100 billion dollars to a candidate and there is no guarantee you would give money to the winner. george soros learned that lesson in 2004.

as for the original story...why do you think this isn’t huge news? because these people CAN talk to the media, just not in the way that this particular reporter tried to do it.

it says it right in the article. if you read it you would see that this isn’t news.

yea, im a wingnut...only 50% of america voted for my candidate. I MUST BE AN EXTREMIST.

you miss the point, unsurprisingly, my conservative hack.

the point is, even WHEN INVITED, the "residents" are NOT ALLOWED to speak freely, and must have a MINDER, much like the press had to have in IRAQ during the first phases of the "war." they are not allowed to merely invite someone into their FEMA TRAILER (now, why are they even living there? I'm sure it's their own fucking fault right? they should've just piled into their SUV and headed out to their beach house, right?) and have a conversation, no they have to go thru the AUTHORITIES to do so.

get it, you silly person?

"...The Advocate report, by reporter Sandy Davis, describes two separate attempts to talk to people displaced by Katrina that were halted by the intervention of a FEMA security guard. In the first incident, in a Morgan City, Louisiana camp, an interview was interrupted by a guard who claimed that residents of the camp are “not allowed” to talk to the media.

Dekotha Devall, whose New Orleans home was destroyed by the storm, was in her FEMA-provided trailer telling the Advocate reporter of the hardships of life in the camp when a security guard knocked on the door.

“You are not allowed to be here,” the guard is quoted as telling the reporter. “Get out right now.” The guard reportedly called police to force the journalist to leave the camp, and even prevented the reporter from giving the interview subject a business card. “You will not give her a business card,” the guard said. “She’s not allowed to have that.”

Later, at another FEMA camp in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana, the reporter attempted to talk to camp resident Pansy Ardeneaux through a chain link fence when the same guard halted the interview. “You are not allowed to talk to these people,” the guard told Ardeneaux. “Return to your trailer now.” The reporter said she and an accompanying photographer were “ordered...not to talk to anyone or take pictures.”

and lastly:

"Timothy Matte, the mayor of Morgan City, expressed surprise that FEMA was enforcing limits on the free speech of disaster victims. “You would think the people would have the same freedom there as everyone else has..."

and THAT'S THE POINT, simplton. this is America, I DONT HAVE TO GO SOMEWHERE ELSE TO TALK TO ANYONE. I CAN DO IT RIGHT FUCKING HERE IN MY TRAILER.

so fuck your bullshit and if you like censorship and fascism and authoritarianism, you can have it.

but I won't stand for it, mr. extremist. and yes, just cause 50% of the 40% who vote are misinformed and mislead by their leaders and the media (such as you, mr. mogul), doesn't make any of the lies into truth.

next conservative platitude, please...
